About Hoop Dreams Basketball Camps
Our main goal is to help young athletes find ways to improve themselves, not only as an athlete, but as people as well. Our aim is to help young people learn how to handle themselves in all areas of life; through challenges, hard work, and in both failures and successes. While our medium is sports skill development, our coaching and teaching goes beyond the boundaries of the court and field and spills into life.
Sports are a great part of life, and provide excellent opportunities for young people to learn and grow. Lectures and activities during camp down times are designed to teach life skills valuable both on and off the court. Respect is the one core value we stress in all of our programs which does not change. While respect remains a constant theme, each summer Hoop Dreams Inc will have a new general theme for all camps. We emphasize different values through our programs as a way of broadening teaching opportunities that reach outside the sports arena.
Every camper will receive a Hoop Dreams Notebook, which contains drills, lecture points, coaches comments and room for players to take their own notes during camp. The notebooks are an important part of what we do at Hoop Dreams Inc, as they are a resource for young athletes to refer to after participating in camp. Camps will focus on building solid fundamentals in all aspects of the game: ball-handling, passing, shooting, footwork and defense.
Nobody can make you a great player but yourself, and participation in a Hoop Dreams Camp will give you solid tools to improve your game. However participation alone will not make you a great player, you must take what you learn and use it and PRACTICE.
Our camps teach solid fundamentals through drills, games and contests. At Hoop Dreams, we believe that it is not about doing certain drills or the 'new hot drills', but it's about time. We believe in old fashioned hard work, and putting in the time. We know there are no special drills or short cuts to becoming a good basketball player. It is no secret that if you want to be good at anything, you must be dedicated yourself and commit time to developing and getting better at whatever it is. Our camps provide excellent drills and ways of practicing, whether it be with your friends in the gym or alone at home in your driveway.
